Anxiety disorder is one of the mental disorders, the tension you feel when you have to go for a first date, when you have to give an interview or even write a simple article for your school or college magazine. We all experience anxiety in something or the other in daily life and it helps us to face difficult situations bravely. But, if we are suffering from anxiety disorder, then it quite certainly does the opposite. It devastates your social life, and makes your life a living hell. Anxiety disorders are of many types and each is different from the other.

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a type of anxiety disorder which is not the common anxiety, but an exaggerated from of it. The person affected tends to worry a lot about family, work, money etc. This leads to less of sleep, no relaxation, trembling, twitching or hot flashes. This form of anxiety develops during childhood or adolescence and could also begin in adulthood. Usually GAD fades out with age, and is common is women than in men. GAD can be cured by medication, cognitive- behavioral therapy, relaxation techniques and biofeedback to control muscle tension. Another type of anxiety disorder is the panic disorder.

In Panic disorder the person will have a sudden attack of panic without any alarm. One may have chest pain making it look like a heat attack. Fear of loss of control over everything is also experienced with loss of memory. This is common among people of all ages but usually begins in adults and is common in women than in men. These attacks occur at any point of time and may last for about 2 -3 minuets or max 10 minuets. These attacks may lead to alcoholism or depression and also develops phobias which may develop in places or situations where the attack had taken place. This changes one's life drastically as one may find it difficult to even step out of house. The treatment for this disorder includes medication of antidepressants and benzodiazepines, psychological treatment like cognitive-behavioral therapy and medication. Phobias are also another form of anxiety attack.

Phobias can be generally classified into three types i.e. specific phobia, social phobia and agoraphobia. Phobias are not just an exaggerated form of fear, they are absurd at times. Specific phobia is the fear of an object or a situation, ex: dogs, heights, escalators, swimming etc. This kind of phobia develops in childhood and becomes constant in few and may disappear in few as time passes, unfortunately there is no possible explanation for the disappearance. The treatment for this type of phobia is to face the fear till it fades, and this usually helps to overcome the phobia, breathing and relaxation exercises are proved to be useful too. Social phobia is the fear one experiences during social activities i.e. one may not be able to speak up, eat, sit etc in front of many people. People who suffer from this kind of phobia know that they fear is meaningless but still they are helpless. Even if they are pushed to face the fear it doesn't really help, so medication and psychological treatment can be helpful to cure this phobia. Agoraphobia is same as panic disorder. The next type of disorder is obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Obsessions the troubling thoughts or images, and the actions done to try to avoid or dismiss them are called compulsions. These actions are not a cure for this type of disorder, but they give momentary relief. To name few one maybe filled with doubt and my check things repeatedly to see if everything is going on alright, one may be obsessed with a particular type of food like junk food n may have food attacks to have it at any cost. People may suffer eating disorders, depression, use drugs or alcohol to get temporary respite. The treatment used to cure this type of disorder is called exposure and response prevention in which one is exposed to anything that triggers the problem and helps one to overcome it without doing any action that gives momentary relief.

Hence by all this we come to know that if one has to avoid all these disorders from upsetting the happy blessed life, one has to has control over they mind and emotions and be strong and overcome all the fears of life. This can be done by taking out time for oneself from the busy rather mechanical life that one leads, coz if wealth is lost nothing is lost, but if health is lost then everything is lost.
